Greetings Emmeline Cook Families,
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students and parents to the 2025-2026 school year. The Emmeline Cook staff looks forward to a safe and successful year. Below are a few key items to assist you in preparing for the school year.
- Open House will be held on Thursday, August 28th, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. You will receive a notice via email with more detailed information on Thursday, August 21st. Families are encouraged to attend to meet their teacher and drop off school supplies. School Supply Lists are at local stores (Target, Shopko, Walmart).
- At Open House, there will be a check-in table, so please come a little bit early. Here you will find out if there is any information still needed for your student. This could include the following:

- BREAKFAST: Students taking advantage of the breakfast program will eat in their classrooms after the 1st bell to get a jump start on the day. Breakfast is removed from the classroom around 8am, so being here at the 1st bell (7:40am) allows students plenty of time to eat before the classroom moves on to learning.
As our staff continues to provide a safe school environment for all students at Emmeline Cook, we have found it necessary to review some expectations of our families to help provide the safest and distraction-free environment before, during, and after school hours. Therefore, we are asking for your help to enforce the following expectations:
Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up:
- Students should NOT be dropped off before 7:30 am. There is no before-school programming. Supervision is provided on the playground beginning at 7:30 am.
- Students waiting for rides after 3:00 pm must wait in the office. The office will make calls to individuals on the contact list.
- When students are dropped off in the morning, they must walk around the school to the playground. Students will not be permitted in the building before 7:40 am, unless there is inclement weather. (Raining or below 10 degrees). Students will then be asked to wait at their coat hooks until the teacher is in their classroom.
- 5th-grade patrols will be permitted to enter the school at 7:30 am to prepare for their duty.
- Drop-Off/Pick-up/Parking-East side of Hazel St (in front of playground/bike racks) is for DROP-OFF ONLY, please DO NOT park. If you need to park and escort your child(ren) into school, please park on Nevada Street, or on the west side of Hazel St (opposite the school)
- The circle drive in front of the school after 7:20 am is for BUSES ONLY during morning drop off & afternoon pick up. There will be cones closing off the entrance at these times.

- School Security & Volunteering:
- To alleviate congestion and increase security, the school doors are ALWAYS locked and monitored by our video/voice system until 3:15pm. When you use the door bell / camera, you will be asked to identify yourself and the reason for your visit. If there is someone behind you, after identifying yourself you will be asked to step aside so that we can identify the next visitor. Once everyone has been identified the door will then be opened for you and all the other visitors.
- Once in the office you will be asked to sign in to our electronic visitor form. This is for your safety and the safety of our students. You will be asked to sign out before leaving as well.
- After 3:15pm the office is CLOSED. You may call and leave a message, and someone will get back to you the following business day.
- All other times during the day, parents and family members will be let in to volunteer or participate in other school activities. Please be advised that if you come to volunteer, you will need to have a complete background check prior to, and have been approved by the district. We suggest having this completed a week prior to you needing to volunteer. You can complete a background check HERE. Please notify the office of completion, or it will not get processed.
- Family members will not be permitted to wait in the lobby for classrooms to be released at the end of the day.
- To avoid any distraction or theft, toys, cell phones, or any electronics are not allowed at school. Any such items will be held by the teacher until the end of the day.
Please visit our website at this Link during the school year if you need to revisit any of the details above. We appreciate your cooperation with these efforts and look forward to a successful school year. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 920-424-0152.
Welcome Back!
