As our staff continues to provide a safe school environment for all students at Emmeline Cook, we have found it necessary to review some expectations of our families to help provide the safest and distraction free environment before, during and after school hours. Therefore we are asking your help to enforce the following expectations:
Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up:
-
Students should not be dropped off before 7:30 am . There is no before school programming. Supervision is provided on the playground beginning at 7:30 am.
-
Students waiting for rides after 3:00 pm must wait in the office. The office will make calls to individuals on the contact list.
-
When students are dropped off in the morning, they must walk around the school to the playground. Students will not be permitted in the building before 7:40 am, unless there is inclement weather. (Raining or below 10 degrees). Students will then be asked to wait at their coat hooks until the teacher is in their classroom.
-
5th grade patrols will be permitted to enter the hallway at 7:30 am to prepare for their duty.
-
Drop-Off/Pick-up/Parking-East side of Hazel St (in front of playground/bike racks) is for DROP-OFF ONLY, please DO NOT park. If you need to park and escort your child(ren) into school, please park on Nevada St, or on the west side of Hazel St (opposite of the school)
-
The circle drive in front of school after 7:20 am is for BUSES ONLY during morning drop off & afternoon pick up. There will be cones closing off the entrance at these times.
School Security & Volunteering:
-
To alleviate congestion and increase security the school doors are ALWAYS locked and monitored by our video/voice system until 3:15pm. After 3:15pm the office is CLOSED. You may call and leave a message and someone will get back to you the following business day. As for all other times during the day, parents and family members will be let in to volunteer or participate in other school activities. Please be advised that if you come to volunteer you will need to have done a background check prior to, and have been approved by the district. We suggest having this completed a week prior to you needing to volunteer. You can complete a background check HERE. Please notify the office of completion or it will not get processed.
-
Family members will not be permitted to wait in the lobby for classrooms to be released at the end of the day.
Personal Items Brought From Home:
-
To avoid any distraction or theft, toys , cell phones or any electronics are not allowed at school. This includes Pokemon Cards and Fidget Spinners. Any such items will be held by the teacher until the end of the day.
We really appreciate your cooperation with these efforts and look forward to a successful school year. If there are any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 920-424-0152.
